ทำไมถึงต้องใส่ “รีเทนเนอร์” หลังจัดฟัน
รีเทนเนอร์ (Retainer) คือ อุปกรณ์ที่ช่วยให้ฟันที่จัดใหม่ยังคงเรียงตัวสวยตามระเบียบ ป้องกันฟันล้ม หรือฟันเคลื่อนตัวหลังการจัดฟัน คนที่กำลังจัดฟันอยู่ หรือจัดฟันใกล้เสร็จแล้ว คงทราบว่าหลังจัดฟันเสร็จขั้นตอนต่อไปคือการใส่รีเทนเนอร์เพื่อให้ฟันเรียงสวยหลังจากที่เราจัดฟันเสร็จแล้ว

จัดฟันต้องถอนฟันไหม

2. เครื่องมือจัดฟันชนิดถอดได้ ซึ่งคนไข้สามารถถอดออกและใส่ได้เอง ซึ่งเครื่องมือแต่ละชนิดก็จะให้ผลในการบำบัดรักษาที่แตกต่างกัน การใช้เครื่องมือชนิดใด ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับการพิจารณาตัดสินใจของทันตแพทย์ดัดฟันถึงความจำเป็นและความเหมาะสมของเครื่องมือแต่ละชนิด
ระยะเวลาที่ใช้ในการดัดฟันนั้นนานเท่าใด ?
ขึ้นอยู่กับ ความผิดปกติที่ต้องการแก้ไขและความร่วมมือของคนไข้ หากคนไข้ให้ความร่วมมือดีผลการบำบัดรักษาก็จะออกมาดีและใช้ระยะเวลาสั้น แต่การรักษาโดยทั่วไปใช้เวลาประมาณ 2-3 ปี
ในการดัดฟันจะมีผลทำให้ฟันผุง่ายขึ้นหรือไม่ ?
ฟันที่ได้รับการบำบัดรักษาทางทันตกรรมดัดฟันก็เหมือนฟันปกติทั่วไป ซึ่งหากทำความสะอาด อย่างสม่ำเสมอและทั่วถึงแล้วก็ไม่มีโอกาสที่จะผุ
ในระหว่างดัดฟันจะต้องมีการดูแลความสะอาดเป็นพิเศษใดๆ หรือไม่ ?
โดยทั่วไปมักจะแนะนำให้คนไข้ดัดฟันแปรงฟันและทำความสะอาดฟันหลังอาหารทุกมื้อ ในกรณีที่ใช้เครื่องมือชนิดถอดได้ ก็ให้ทำความสะอาดเครื่องมือด้วยยาสีฟันและแปรงสีฟันร่วมด้วย นอกจากนี้ก็ควรงดเว้นอาหารรสหวานจัด หรือติดฟัน ในรายที่ใช้เครื่องมือ ชนิดติดแน่น ควรงดเว้นอาหารกรอบและแข็ง เช่น ถั่วต่างๆ , น้ำแข็ง เพราะมีโอกาสที่จะทำให้เครื่องมือ ที่ติดอยู่กับฟันหลุดออก อันจะมีผลให้ การบำบัดรักษายุ่งยากและไม่ได้ผลเท่าที่ควร
ในการดัดฟันนั้นเจ็บมากน้อยเพียงใด ?
ทุกครั้งที่มีการปรับหรือเปลี่ยนลวดที่ใช้ในการดัดฟัน คนไข้จะรู้สึกตึง หรือเจ็บบ้าง ในช่วงสัปดาห์แรก ของการปรับเปลี่ยนลวดดัดฟัน แต่หากรู้สึกเจ็บปวดรุนแรงผิดปกติควรกลับไปพบทันตแพทย์ดัดฟันผู้ให้การบำบัดรักษาทันที
